Doughnuts!...sort of...

I was bored, and we had nothing good for a snack in the house, and I've been dying to try this for weeks now, so I decided to bake some doughnuts. Yes, bake. I'm not exactly aloud to fry with yet, and I really don't trust myself. As it is, I've already burnt my sleeve on the jet while making dinner, I don't need another accident like that!

The chocolate frosting is soooo good!
Yup! Not only did some of they have chocolate on them, they had chocolate in them. Those are chocolate chips!
The last one looks more like a muffin then a donut. I baked it in a cupcake holder.

Looks so good! How did you do it? Want to post the recipe? I would love to bake some.

Thanks, Karen! They were yummy, but a bit denser then I'd like. I think maybe the main reason they tasted good was because they were drenched in frosting. If you'd like to bake some doughnuts, I suggest making the ones on Tartlette's blog: http://tartelette.blogspot.com/2007/09/baked-doughnutsbaked-goodness.html

But I'm going to give yo the chocolate frosting recipe, because it's THE BEST chcolate frosting I've ever tasted, and I use it for everything.

Taken from "Better Homes and Gardens: Homemade Cookies"

Fudge Frosting:

1 square (one ounce) unsweetened chocolate

2 tablespoon margarine or butter

1 2/3 cups sifted powdered sugar

1 tsp Vanilla

1 to 2 tablespoons hot water

Basically, melt the butter and chocolate in a saucepan, stirring occasionally. Once melted, stir in powdered sugar and vanilla. Then stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons hot water to make it soft spreading consistency. (I always end up using a bit more)
